We are DINKs!

I was told yesterday that Mark and I are now known as "DINKs" - stands for Double Income No Kids!

THAT'S RIGHT - Marky got a job! He works for Einstein's Eyes in Richardson, TX! He started last week, and he really likes it! Unfortinately for right now, he is having to commute, but that is a small sacrifice to make until we can move to the mid-cities.

We are loving life right now. For Thanksgiving, we are going to be in Waco. I am ready for a long weekend! I love Thanksgiving! Then we are going to see Baylor and TTU play at the Cowboy's Stadium, which I have been looking forward to for about a year!

Exciting stuff... I leave you with this yummy recipe for Tuxedo Pie!

Distractions are my enemy!!

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Isn't that a stupid question for most of us?

I have had so much to do lately at work. It is hard for me to feel accomplished when I leave work with lots of piles left on my desk. I leave with a headache and can't help but think about work while I am at home.

Thankfully, it hasn't been that bad lately, but since I will be out on Friday, I feel a little extra pressure to cover everything while I am out.

This weekend is Caitlin's wedding! I am so excited to be a bridesmaid. I haven't been a bridesmaid since Brandi's wedding a year and a half ago. We are going to Waco after I get off tomorrow so I can be available all day Friday to help her and to go to the Bridesmaid luncheon on Friday. Its also my first Catholic wedding to be in, although not fully traditional I don't think. It should be so fun!!

I always enjoy going home to Waco. I love spending time with my mom and dad -- and my puppy Riley!! I love Rie-Rie, and he loves me!! It is not practical for Mark and I to keep him in a small apartment when my parents have so much land for him to run around on. He is such a big dog, and my parents have definitely gotten attached to him. He is still my baby though.

Mark and I are currently watching a special on Air Force One on the History Channel. It is an incredible documentary on such an important part of our history. I enjoy being an American!!

Wow, it's November!

Halloween was great. I didn't take any pictures of us together, sorry! I am just really bad about documenting things that we have going on right now.

We spent Halloween night with Derek and Lindsay Pugh in Dallas. They dressed as Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson, and I was a tennis player and Mark was Billy Mays. We ate dinner at Mia's and went to a party at Lindsay's friends apartment in Uptown.

After making an appearance at the party, we went to Uptown Bar & Grill and people watched and saw some great karaoke. We saw 2 Jon&Kate, multiple Michael Jacksons, a box of wine (with a working spout), 2 Jehovah's Witnesses (traveling together), and multiple Slutty "Fill-in-the-blanks". All around, the BEST Halloween I have had in my adult years!!

Mark had a 2nd interview today with a company in Richardson. He is super excited about it, and we pray so hard that he gets this job! We could finally relocate, which I am definitely ready for!! I love Fort Worth, but I am just ready for a change of location and to move up in the world!

Wow, I cannot believe its November already! Honestly, can you? I cannot wait for Thanksgiving this year! My mom and I are cooking together for the first time. I plan on going on home this weekend for Caitlin's wedding and try to plan what we are going to have for our dinner for all the men in our life (Dad, Austin, and Mark). I love my mom, and I really get excited to think about cooking such a big dinner - just sounds exciting.

Lastly, I am ready for Tech vs Baylor at the Cowboys Stadium! Wreck em Tech... in the good and the bad!

Our Second Weekend Apart...

This weekend as our second weekend in a row to be apart. I went to Austin for Caitlin's Bachelorette party. It was so fun!! Out picture is Me, Ashley, Caitlin, MC, and Lara. (We are missing some of the girls in the picture.) We ate at ZTejas, saw the comedy show at Esther's Follies, and went out on 6th Street. It was so great meeting some of the girls because I had never met a couple of them.
Sunday, Adrienne and I drove back to Fort Worth together. Adrienne is Catie's older sister, and it was the most time we had ever spent together since I have known their family. She is so sweet, and really funny. She helped the time go by really quickly. THANKS MRS. LOMBARDI!!
This weekend, we have my parents coming in town for the Rangers vs. Red Sox game on Saturday. Then they are going to Las Vegas on Monday until Thursday. I love spending time with Mom and Dad, and finally they are coming to visit us!! These are things that I'm thinking will be on the agenda:

1. Papadeaux (pre-Rangers game tradition)
2. Rangers Game
3. Church @ Christ Chapel
4. Eat at Dutch's in Fort Worth and finally try Babe's in Burlison
5. Get our new car!!!!!
Yep, Mark and I traded my car for my parents' Honda Pilot! Here's our new ride!!!!

Our first weekend apart...

I love this picture of us. It was at a Rangers game a while back on dollar hot dog night - those are Marky's favorite nights!
Well, this weekend marks our FIRST ever weekend away from each other. Marky is going camping with his friends in New Mexico. I am not looking forward to it because I will be here all alone. I am actually going home on Friday, so I won't be totally alone. I just need to worry about Thursday night and possibly Sunday night. I am just not looking forward to being alone and totally out of contact from him. I'm sure you all think I'm being dumb, but it is affecting me. :(
We went to Lubbock this weekend to visit Emily at the new Overton Hotel, and it looks so great inside. Its simply amazing!! I wish I could have fully enjoyed my weekend away, but I had some stuff following me at work that just caused my mind to be in a different place.
There is a motto up at work that says, "You may have to fight a battle several times to win it." I really feel like this is what I need to live by lately. I feel like I have had a rough year so far with the stuff that Mark and I have gone through, but I have to keep fighting and keeping TRYING. I feel like I have a lot of pressure on me at work and at home. I feel like I do a lot of great things, then one setback causes me to revert back to letting that pressure consume me. BUT, I just have to power through and realize that God is in control. He is allowing this to happen to me for a reason, and NOT trusting Him is like NOT believing that He is in total control.
I hope I can remember that in the coming days. This is going to continue to be a hard week, then at the end of it, I get to spend some time with my amazing mom, dad and brother. Not to mention, I get to cuddle with my puppy, Riley. I miss him so much! (Mark won't let me keep him so he lives with Mom and Dad since they have so much land.) My family keeps me going. My God sustains me.

Summer Lovin'

I am a terrible blogger... I apologize for all of my many faithful followers out there!

Let me start by saying, Mark and I each have an unhealthy body image for ourselves and for each other. Each of us is feeling really overly self-conscious, so we've started working out and DIETING. I can regretfully say that Mark is doing a much better job than me. However, he doesn't eat during the day, and I cannot for the life of me skip lunch.

We have been doing a whole lot of nothing lately at home. I get home around 6 every day, cook dinner, and relax and study until bedtime. The weekends have been full of going to Waco, having Mark's parents visit, and house sitting for my boss and his family.

This coming weekend, Adam is coming to town, so we will probably hang out with him and his girlfriend and possibly go to Lake Lewisville. Summer is going great for us! I am so ready to visit Lubbock on the weekend of the 24th... hopefully we're still coming. I may be going alone, but we'll see!!

Shout out to my lovely Emily Hess. I know you like to read what's up with me, and I know I have failed. I will try - promise!

3eb & NOLA

Mark and I have a great week ahead of us! Tonight we are going to the Third Eye Blind concert at the Palladium in Dallas. Marky LOVES 3eb, and we've never gotten to see them live. Today, Marky's dreams come true!

Also, we leave on Thursday morning for New Orleans!!! I am so excited to go see NOLA, especially after reading so much in our travel book and online. We are staying at the Frenchman Hotel right across from the French Quarter, and it is actually on the National Registry for Historical Places.

We will update with pictures when we get back on Sunday!

Lubbock or Leave It

I love Lubbock, and I always will. Mark hates Lubbock, and he probably always will.

We went to LUBBOCK a couple weekends ago to visit Zach, Emily, Brandi, etc. and for Holly's baby shower. We got there on Friday night, and I am always up to go out when I get in town no matter what time of day. We met up with Emily and others for her "Lubbock Birthday" since last weekend we celebrated her "Dallas Birthday."

We met them out at Mesquites which is the most boring place in all of Lubbock (other than Luby's) -- sorry. It made me feel old and boring, so we went across the street to Crickets which I LOVE! After we made the switch, I felt much more ALIVE.

Saturday was filled with baby things, the NFL draft, and the Mavs/Spurs game. We also had dinner at Ruby Tequila's (man I love that place), and we played a little football out at the Village Township.

This weekend, Mark and I are heading to Waco to see my family and celebrate Mother's day. We got our wedding DVD finally, and after I watched it I missed my family a lot. So, I cannot wait to be home. PLUS, the pool is being filled with water as we speak and will be SWIMABLE this weekend!!!! I already have my bathing suit packed.

We got bikes this week! Finally... Mark and I both have been wanting bikes, and we broke down and got them! We rode them around in Trinity Park near our apartment, and it was hard but fun. I can't believe after all this time of Mark holding out on me that he finally broke down and let us get them. This is the first bike I have owned since I was probably 7 years old.

That is pretty much all that is going on these days. I hope that I can get back into a groove of posting more often, but I just can't seem to find the time.

xoxo -Meg-

Megan, Mark and Stanley

Let me preface this post with a conversation that Mark and I had today which ended in us debating on what our most valuable posession is: our tv or our cars?

Stanley, our beautiful 52" Samsung LCD TV, is our wonderful, bright, joyful child and the apple of our eye. We recently go into watching Weeds, and it is definitely our new favorite show. We have to wait a while until Season 4 comes out on Blu Ray, so we joined Netflix to keep us interested until then.

Netflix is the best deal ever! It saves so much money on renting movies from Blockbuster, and they have all the Blu Rays you could possibly want!

We haven't just been sitting around watching TV all day every day though. We went the Amarillo last weekend for Easter, and it was so great being there with EVERYONE! We went to Palo Dura Canyon, did a couple Easter Egg Hunts, played games, ate great food, and visited with the Bean Family!!

I like going away for the weekend, but then we have we have weekends like this one here in DFW, and I realize that we live in such a great city. I have spent a lot of this weekend cleaning unfortunately, but our apartment really needed it. It still needs more, but it seems much more managable at this point. I wish we could keep things in order as we live day to day, but my husband doesn't seem to share in that sentiment.

This coming weekend - we head to LUBBOCK! I am so excited about seeing everyone, and celebrating Holly's baby shower.

Quality Time

I want to apologize to all for never posting. I have found ZERO amounts of time to sit down and write. I have spent my extra time watching Weeds Seasons 1 and 2 with Mark and reading my new book Naturally Thin: Unleash Your SkinnyGirl and Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting by Bethenny Frankel. (SO GOOD!)

Work is going well lately, although VERY busy. Mark and I absolutely love spending lots of time together on the weekends. We did a love language quiz last week in Sunday School, and we both now have Quality Time as our top love language... my was previously Words of Affirmation.

Speaking of Sunday School, we found a new GREAT church! We are now attending Christ Chapel Bible Church here in Fort Worth. It is an amazing church, and we're going to the Young Marrieds class.

This coming weekend, we're heading to Amarillo for Easter. We're leaving on Thursday after I get off of work and staying through Sunday. I am very much looking forward to see my new side of the family and do some geocaching in Palo Dura Canyon.

Mark's quote of the day: "Megan, he's cheating!" Mark yelling at me during a video game, probably referring to some adolescent who shot and killed him.

Family Visits

Things are insane around our house these days. I know I posted that I would put up some wedding pictures, but I have honestly had ZERO time to do so. I will find some time this weekend to make that happen since we have nothing major going on (thankfully)!

Two weekends ago, we went to visit my parents in Waco and to see their brand new house that my mom and dad designed! It looks amazing. My mom did such a good job on the details, and I can't wait for it to come together finally. Since we left, she has put up blinds and drapery, installed surround sound throughout the house, and installed satellite TV in each room. Needless to say, we will be returning for a visit soon.

Last weekend, Mark's parents came to Fort Worth for a visit. We went to the zoo, out to eat, played spades, and filled every last ounce of our time. I fear that our next visit with them will be much less exciting. We sort of pulled out the big guns on this trip, so we will have to scrap up some new material for next time. They also visited another church with us (which was not a keeper), and we even did some geocaching!

Mark's job search is going.... just going. He is definitely trying so hard to find something, and each time we think we're getting somewhere with a lead, there is a roadblock or no one calls back. I am praying so hard for him, and I am so proud of his patience and perserverance, but it does get frustrating at times. God will provide for us. Thankfully I have a great job, and we are not struggling to make it. I just can't buy new clothes and a new pair of shoes every week like before. BUMMER! Sacrifices are worth it (if it means my husbands loves me in old clothes and old shoes).

Mark and Megan Price are doing great is Fort Worth so far in 2009!

Day 25...

These last 25 days have been the most fun! Last night, I looked at Mark over my veggie sub from Subway, and just said out loud, "I am having the most fun with you these days!" This was after we really sucked wind running in the park, so I said it rather breathlessly. Even so, I meant it.

We have filled our time with the following activities (some sporadic, and some done ever day religiously...)
1. Watched the Office on Netflix (in HD on our amazing TV, Stanley)
2. Played tennis (and I am actually getting better - good enough to play a couple matches)
3. Started running in the park (Every weekday)
4. Went grocery shopping twice
5. Had nachos at CHIMY's (and found out my cousin works there)
6. Visited Uptown Dallas with our brother and sister-in-law & many friends
7. Began looking for a house (This one is the most exciting besides watching the Office!)
8. Shopped for Blu-Ray movies (since we got the player as a wedding gift from Adam)
9. Opened all of the cards from the wedding (We had my mom mail them all to us because we couldn't wait)
10. Cooked dinner at home more than we've eaten out

There is so much that we've done, so those are really my top 10. I am sure Mark will read this and mention something even better that I have forgotten, so I will write about that in my next post.

I will just tell you about our neighbors around us, which makes apartment living so much more exciting.

The people below us are married with two small children. They live at our apartment complex as a part of their ministry that they lead called CARES, which probably stands for something prolific, but who knows. Basically they live in a complex and plan special events (game night, dessert night, etc.) and go around meeting and making relationships. Well, they live directly below me so I run into them a lot as well as hear a lot of what goes on inside and outside of their apartment. One night I heard yelling because my windows were open. I turned all the lights off (like good neighbors do when they want to get a good look outside), and the wife was storming off, and then jumped in her car and flew away. The husband came out a second later out with the young daughter yelling, "Don't cry sweetie. It's not fair she's taking this out on you..." and took off walking in the direction in which the lady drove. Not sure why, but he just walked off with the daughter yelling all the way. After that, I never saw them together for almost 7 weeks.

Last night, Mark and I noticed them moving out.

Wedding Theme Boards

My best friend Brandi owns Bell Creation (www.bellcreation.com and bellcreation.blogspot.com), and she took some pictures throughout the wedding. I love these two theme boards she put together. I hope you enjoy. I get my photographer's pictures back on Saturday, February 7th, so I will upload my favorites from those also! Enjoy, and Happy Friday!

We're Married!

Mark and I did it! We went and got hitched. The wedding went amazing, and I would go through it 100 more times if I could. I had a blast. I don't have any wedding pictures yet, but I do have all the honeymoon pictures, so this is a honeymoon post!

Day 1 - Sunday, January 11, 2009
We checked in at Sandals after we landed. It was a crazy day with traveling, and we were exhausted, but we were so happy to be there! We showered, changed, and had dinner at Mario's, the Italian restaurant on the resort. We looked around a little bit, and were then in bed by 7:30 p.m.

Day 2 - Monday, January 12, 2009
We definitely slept in until 10:30 a.m. We started our day at the Main Pool and were there for most of the day. We took our lunch to go from the Barefoot by the Sea restaurant. Here are some pics of us waiting around for our lunch:

We ate our lunch back at the main pool and laid out there for the rest of the day. We finally went back to the room to shower and change clothes for dinner. That night was the Caribbean Beach BBQ. Here's a picture of Mark the BBQ.

After dinner, we listened to a band outside of the Pub on the resort then went inside the Pub for a "Disco," which basically meant that we watched old people dance to old music. It was late by that time, so we headed to bed.

Day 3 - Tuesday, January 13, 2009
We ate breakfast at the Bayside International Restaurant, which is a completely open-air restaurant right on the beach near the front desk of the resort. The french toast was the best I have ever had in my life! After our great breakfast, we went to the Tours & Excursions office to book our Sandals Exclusive Circumnavigation Cruise around the island of Antigua. After that was booked, we spent the first half of the day at the pool outside our room. We laid around, watched water aerobics, then watched pool volleyball before we left for lunch. Here are some pics of that pool.

By far, our favorite lunch was at the pizzaria! I loved the Mexican style pizza (Beef, Cheese, and Jalapenos) and Mark loved the pepperoni. Oh gosh, I would love to have one of those right now. After lunch we went back to our pool and laid around, floated the lazy river, then enjoyed the drinks and the hot tub. Later that afternoon, we participated in the water balloon toss then showered and got ready for dinner. Dinner that night was my wedding gift to Mark - a candlelit dinner on the beach with a custom dinner menu I designed for us. It was an amazing dinner, even though it was a little windy and Mark spilled a glass on champagne. Here are a couple pictures:

After our amazing dinner, we went to watch the Newlywed game, and ended up volunteering to play. They asked questions like: What is her favorite restaurant? And some dirty ones I would rather not discuss in case my parents or in-laws read this. :) Anyway - We won!

We won a bottle of champagne and a $50 gift certificate to Diamonds International (the diamond store on the resort). We also met a couple (Andrew and Mary) and had a couple drinks with them at the piano bar. We didn't go to bed until almost 1:30 a.m. but it was a great day!

Day 4 - Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Tour Day! We took a circumnavigation cruise around the entire island of Antigua. It was amazing. It took all day (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and we saw so much! We snorkled off a small island (Bird Island) and had a traditional Caribbean lunch on that island. It was so good! Here's some cruise pictues.

We were so wiped out by the end of the cruise, but we were also ready for dinner! We showered and got ready for our dinner at Kimonos, the hibachi restaurant at Sandals. It was good, but it didn't compare to our American hibachi. You don't order your actual entree, they give you portions of all the entrees (chicken, beef, fish, and shrimp), but our appetizers were amazing! We ate with couples from England (who asked us if we were Cowboys fans!), Canada (who we saw EVERYWHERE), Arizona, and Germany. It was fun -- and they were all much older than us. The Arizona couple was there on the 52 wedding anniversary! We went to watch a band and the talent show in the courtyard then headed to bed because we were so tired.

Day 5 - Thursday, January 15, 2009
We woke up and had breakfast at Mario's - great french toast again!! We spent the day at the main pool. We ate lunch at the lunch buffet at Mario's which I liked more than Mark. They are an Italian restaurant, but most of the pastas had seafood in them, which Mark doesn't like. He was satisfied by the end of the meal, but I don't think it was his favorite lunch of the trip. We went back to the room for a bit to get out of the sun and lay around, then went snorkeling at 2:00. It was later in the day so it was windy and the water was rough. We did see more than our first snorkeling trip, but the guide said it would have been better in the morning. We booked a morning snorkeling trip when we got back that afternoon. That night, we had dinner at the OK Corral which was the best dinner we had all week, in my opinion. It was so good. We each had a salad from the salad bar, shared nachos, and chicken fajitas. It was very very yummy! After dinner, we watched the Illusion Show which Mark and I were both involved in, then went to the Casino on the resort to watch the magician demonstrate some magic tricks. We were out pretty late that night, so I was very ready for bed. Mark could have stayed at the casino watching that guy all night, but I finally got my way.

Day 6 - Friday, January 16, 2009

We ate breakfast at the Bayside restaurant right on the beach. After breakfast, spent the day at the beach. It was really our first full beach day. We had visited the beach throughout the day and went kayaking, but never just stayed there all day. We had seen a ship in the distance the night before, so this day, all of the people from the Carnival Cruise were on the beach. Well, obviously, not ALL of the people, but there were several. Since all of the beaches in Antigua are public, vendors can sell things up and down the beach. The sellers were particularly bad this day because of the extra tourists. It rained for about 30 seconds to a minute everyday, but this day it rained off and on for most of the day. None of the rain was pouring like it does in Texas, but it mists for a while then stops. It actually felt good to be on the beach in the rain, but after a couple mists, I went and got towels for us to cover up with. We had lunch at Bayside right next to our lounge chairs, then went back to the beach. That afternoon, we took a sailing lesson which took a bit too long because the wind was terrible. We showered and got ready for dinner, which we wanted to have at OK Corral again, but they were closed, so we ate at the Pub. Later that night, we watched a dancing show and turned in early.
Day 7, Saturday, January 17, 2009.
We started our day with our snorkeling trip. It was freezing outside at 9 a.m. -- well probably in the 60's, so we kinda decided to have breakfast instead of getting in the water. We were up early enough to get GREAT chairs at the pool. I tried to finish my book, but Mark wanted to try sailing, so we spent most of the morning sailing around. It was such a blast! I can't wait to do it again. We had pizza for lunch which was amazing again! Then, the rest of the day we spent by the pool drinking, reading, and relaxing. It was a great final day, and I was so sad to see the vacation end. We had our final dinner at Mario's that night, and the pasta was amazing! We packed and checked out that night because we had to get up early on Sunday morning (5 a.m. Antigua time, 3 a.m. Texas time)!
We had a great honeymoon, and we can't wait to go to another Sandals!!
